The Oupost

An outpost can be like here: 2800 meters over the ocean, Europe, Januari snowblure, foggy, 150 meters of sight and the mountainhut is warm, by a big wood heated kichen oven, the snow has partly made its way indoors thru both the entré and the hallway, in here is only the snow that finds it way in with the firewood. Everything is wooden and well worn .Water getts the one that melts snow, no electricity and no species, not even mice exist here. The food is dried and conserved.

An Outpost can also be sailing boats, backpacks, huts, towers, lighthouses etc.


The Charm of the outpost and with that I mean the temptation.

There is a specific kind of peace created “in me anyway” by being safe/ as long as I am activ/ alert of the dangers like those that the ouposts consist of. Beautiful and exulting but also dangerous and inhospitable enviroments

I.e on the ocean, the oceanwater is a danger to be alert with constantly.
With the constant demand of concentration on the water and at the same time the beauty, plus the simplicity and order onboard, small spaces to maintain, rutin. Ja with that as a foundation one has a good base to have a good time. That wich remains to “do” onboard is obviously a question of phantasie. I can start writing now and stop tomorrow morning, especially if u got female company.

When stress accrues at such places it´s nstural and simultaneously not optional. Nature tells u loud and clear when to move your ass.

Like now.
Im sitting in front of the fire, in the oven door im drying the frozen wood which I will burn next , coffee an cigarettes is here. I am writing and regularly I ask myself if I can ride or fall down again tomorrow on my mini skies?
Especially the question is: Will I be able to see any tracks tomorrow if it continues to snow? I have a plane to catch! The only thing I can do is: to keep a regular eye on some old tracks ca 150 meters away, and ja halfshitty tracks I´ll have anyway, but atleast I have to have clear weather, I know there are some ridges that are to steep.

* If I have to stay here, (Yes I am doing great) there is everything I need for a
good while onward, and well writing is to be done anyway.

*It is delightful up here, no people and if anyone will appear it will be mountain goats in different shapes which mostly are easy to get along with. But today it is most likely that someone is in trouble if they arrive.

Then they will arrive to a good rescuehut!, warm, habited and with its own chef …..Moi!

Further, Jallah!
I have about an hor left in my Mp3 and mabe 10 min left in the cellphone which I economize with.

There is a great satisfaction in the certainty that one has optimized the situation.

Something in the outpost thinking has to do with manifoldness. To like many different things and thereby easily be satisfied by having a few at a time.

I want to write and I want to think thru a lot of things.
But If I turn to what I would like undependent of my actuall situation, I would mostly like:

Go up and look about on the glacier (200 meters from here)
Have a woman here
Have the tracks visible and clear weather
Have more batteries

I don’t have these things and as it appears I will have it first in about 1-X days. So I chose to like my possibilities now. To write, think, carve, and especially enjoy the stillness and the purity of the air and surrounding.


One should be clearly aware that one can master oneself and ones needs in almost any circumstance , Thereby not said that that company is wrong. But that if one which’s to be,travel in inhospitable places which also can be unpopulated so: Prepare sufficiently, inform yourself and draw your own conclusions along the way.

Outpost Thinking

It is desired by all man kind to prefairably have their own sources of basic needs.

In summary this is as common as: Why buy milk and meat if you have cows?
If one desires, but only if! One can have full comfort; meaning all basic needs at all times independent if u are in your home, Sahara desert or in a city; regardless of your finnancial situation.
